Grounding Exercise

My mindfulness tip for the day is a grounding exercise that you can offer yourself anywhere and at anytime. You can do this standing or sitting:

Take a moment to yourself, close your eyes, let go of the busyness of your day.

Bring your attention to the areas of your body that make contact with the floor or chair. Really notice these areas of your body…allow the floor or chair to support you……bring awareness to what it feels like just to stand/sit…invite yourself to become “rooted” in this position, rooted to the floor or the chair…

Now, bringing your attention to your body, and starting with your feet, begin a body scan. Briefly checking in with each area of your body, notice your feet, legs, hips, back, abdomen, chest, arms, hands, neck, head…stay here for just a moment, really notice…dropping any judgment, inviting awareness, peace, ease…

Now, with all of your body parts in mind, bring your awareness to the “container” of your body….where does your body begin and end (head to toe)…your container…your being.

And now, within this “container” that is you, notice that your breath is flowing, your heart is beating, your blood is circulating…Your body is taking care of you. Regardless of any stress going on around you, all is well internally…
BODY INTACT, BREATH FLOWING, HEART BEATING…ALL IS WELL.
