Our peace comes from within. When we are looking for peace and joy from external sources we are literally giving our power away. Difficulties and challenges will always arise. This is part of life, and common to all humanity. By practicing self-compassion we tend to our own needs and desires which paves the path for inner peace, ease, and joy.
